Nadya Suleman a single mother with six children was dubbed the octuplet mom" last month for giving birth to eight children through invitro fertilization. This sparked controversy as she was collecting public assistance for some of her children.
This week she is also in the news for allegedly firing a non-profit group of nurses charged with helping her with her children.(http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/24/octuplets.nurses.fired/index.html) she said that the nurses were spying on her to report her to the child-welfare authorities.Her attornrey said that she will now be paying for nursing servics.
She now has four of the octuplets at home, along with her six other children. The other octuplets remain in a hospital, which is discharging them two at a time to ease the adjustment.
I was wondering what must have ben going through her mind when she decided to have the octuplets she definately dosent have the means support them,i.e she lives in her mothers three bedroomed house which is under threat of foreclosure.However an article from the Neotoroma(http://www.neatorama.com/2009/02/01/octuplets-mom-obsessed-with-having-babies/) reports that Nadya's mother says that she(nadya) has been obssesed with having babies since she was little.
David Diamond, a co-director for the Center for Reproductive Psychology in San Diego, said mothers can be drawn to repeat pregnancies for a number of reasons, with some finding the experience so satisfying they choose to become surrogates!
